Yellow laser is indicated in the treatment of blood vessels disorders such as port wine stains, red birth-marks, rosacea, red-nose syndrome, hemagiomas, and enlarged blood vessels. Yellow (light) laser may be used with minimal risk of scarring from treatment, making them effective and safe in the treatment of children and infants. Yellow light laser systems may be adjusted to produce multiple colors of light that may be used for the treatment of skin cancer. Yellow light laser works by producing an intense beam of bright light that travels in one direction. The lasers beam may cut, vaporize, or seal blood vessels and skin tissue. Once the laser light is directed at skin tissue, its light energy is absorbed by pigments or water contained in the skin. Water is located in a large amount in all living cells. Pigments of the skin include protein that make skin red, melanin – the brown or tan colored pigment, and hemoglobin, a protein that makes blood red. Hemoglobin, melanin, and protein absorb laser light of different colors.
