Xeroderma Pigmentosum is a genetic defect that is rare in ultraviolet radiation induced DNA repair mechanisms. It is characterized by severe type of sensitivity to all UV radiation sources, especially sunlight. There are a wide range of symptoms for Xeroderma Pigmentosum. Some of them are: premature skin aging, blindness in result from eye lesions, progressive neurological complications that include mental retardation, hearing loss, deafness and development disabilities. There is currently no cure for Xeroderma Pigmentosum. The DNA damage is irreversible. Treatment of neoplasms is very important in addition to surveillance.
