A molecular link between type 2 diabetes and obesity was discovered by Scientists which could lead to new drugs treating the disease. Scientists found that protein released by fat tissue in mice caused insulin resistance, diabetes risk factor. Dr Barbara Kahn of Beth Israel medical center in Boston, Massachusetts said that "being resistant to insulin is one of the major causes of diabetes". Type 2 diabetes is caused by inability to make enough insulin. Over 150 million people suffer from diabetes worldwide. Source: Reuters
