Nizoral (ketoconazole) cream is indicated for treatment of a fungal infection of the skin. Before applying Nizoral (ketoconazole), the skin should be cleaned and dried. To apply, the person should gently massage a small cream’s amount to the damaged part and surrounding skin area. The treatment should continue as prescribed, even if the symptoms disappeared. Discontinuing treatment too soon might not clear an infection, leading the infection to reappear. The person should cover with bandage if recommended by doctor. It can take about a week to see any improvements. If no improvement occurs after two to four weeks, the person should notify a doctor. Another drug can be prescribed. Nizoral (ketoconazole) can result in redness, stinging, or burning at the beginning of the treatment. It is usually disappearing in a several days as person’s body is adjusting to such medication. If such effects worsen or persist, the person must inform a doctor. If other side effects occur, the person also must notify his doctor. before using this cream, the doctor should know about person’s medical history, particularly of allergies. The breast-feeding woman should consult her doctor before using this medication, because ketoconazole(nizoral) can appear in breast milk and can affect infant. Nizoral cream must be used with cautious during pregnancy, only with doctor approval. The pregnant woman should inform her doctor before using such cream. Before using nizoral cream, the person should tell the doctor about using all nonprescription and prescription medications he uses, particularly of, other skin products. Nizoral (ketoconazole) cream must not be stopped or started without doctor’s approval. In overdose cases, the person must contact emergency room or local poison center promptly. The nizoral cream can be dangerous if swallowed. The drug is prescribed only for current condition. The person should not use this medication for another infection or share this medication with other person. Missed dose must be applied as soon as remembered, but never should be doubled. Nizoral(ketoconazole) cream must not be freezed and should be stored at room temperature far away from heat, light, children, and pets.
