West Nile cases on the rise
Cases of the west nile virus are rising. Illinois Department of Public Health reports that there are a total of 43 cases of west nile across the states. Those that get sick are usually elderly people as well as the young. West Nile virus is passed through a bite of a culex mosquito that gets the virus from feeding on a bird which is infected.
It is recommended that you avoid outdoor activities and keep your skin covered up in clothes, with long sleeves, while using a mosquito repellent. Cook County Department of Public Health officials are urging people to take care of themselves when they are outdoors. A lot of the cases that are being reported include more serious neuroinvasive diseases.
