Myoclonus |
Details
|
Myoclonus is a condition describing fleeting bursts of muscular relaxation or excitation, causing involved muscles or synchronous quick jerk. Myoclonus jerks can affect most muscles at once as often and happens when an individual first falls asleep. Myoclonic jerks can be confined to a group of muscles in the leg or upper arm, and a single hand. Multifocal myoclonus results from a sudden deficiency of oxygen to the person’s brain, degenerative late-life disorders, or specific forms of epilepsy. In cases, when moclonic jerks occur in severe form, they require treatment consisting of valproic acid or antiseizure medications such as Clonazepam, which may relieve Myoclonus.
