Ibuprofen (brand name: Nuprin, Motrin, Medipren, Advil, Pediacare Fever) is a non-steroidal anti-inflamatory medication, indicated for the treatment of fever, inflammation, and mild to moderate ackes.Ibuprofen is prescription and non-prescription drug. This medication works by blocking prostaglandines, such as cyclooxygenase, made from enzyme, leading to decrease of prostaglandin levels. In result, fever, pain, and inflammation are decreasing. Ibuprofen(Advil, Motrin, Pediacare Fever, Medipren, Nuprin) was approved in 1974. This medication can interact with Lithium by lowering lithium excretion by kidney. This drug can result in lowering of blood pressure if taken with medications , indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure.If Ibuprofen(Motrin, Advil) is taken along with Aminoglycoside(for example-Gentamicin) , aminoglycoside levels in blood can become higher, leading to reducing of aminoglycoside elimination from the person's body.It can cause aminoglycosides-related unwanted effects.Patients using anticoagulants, such as warfarin, and oral blood thinners must avoid Motrin(ibuprofen) because Ibuprofen also is thinning the person's blood, and significunt thinning of blood may result in bleeding. Ibuprofen((Nuprin, Advil, Medipren,Motrin, Pediacare Fever) is not advised for pregnant females. This drug, as many others NSAIDs, must be avoided by breast-feeding women, because it passes breast milk and can affect the nursing baby. While using Ibuprofen, such side effects as abdominal pain, rash, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, or ringing in the person's ears may occur.This drug can result in intestine or stomach ulceration, and the ulcer can bleed. In some cases, bleeding and ulceration may happen without weakness, tarry black stool, dizziness, or abdominal aches. Ibuprofen(motrin, advil, nuprin, medipren,etc) is lowering blood flow to the patient's kidneys and may impair kidney's function. This condition most likely to happen in people who had previously experienced congestive failure of heart or kidney function impairment; these individuals must use ibuprofen cautiously. People, who have allergy to any NSAIDs, such as aspirin, must not take Ibuprofen(motrin, advil, nuprin,medipren,pediacare fever and other). Patients, who have asthma are most likely to get allergic reaction to Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is prepared in forms of capsules of 200mg; oral drops of 40mg/ml; tablets of 200mg, 400mg, 600mg, and 800mg; and in form of suspension of 100mg/5ml and 100mg/2,5ml. The dose depends on age, medical condition, and age. Ibuprofen should be taken exactly as recommended by doctor. The dose should not be increased to avoid possible serious complications. In overdose case, the person must promptly contact emergency room or poison control center. Ibuprofen should be stored at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, direct light, children, and pets.
