Hydrocortisone acetate suppositories 25 mg are indicated for the treatment of inflamed hemorrhoids, factitial(post-irradiation) proctitis, as an adjunct in the chronic ulcerative colitis treatments, cryptitis, and other anorectum inflammatory conditions, as well as pruritis ani. The people with a hypersensitivity history to any of the components, containing in hydrocortisone acetate suppositories, should not use this medicine. These suppositories should be used after adequate examination. The Hydrocortisone Acetate Suppositories use must be stopped if the irritation is developing and proper treatment should be instituted. If the infection presents, the use of an proper antibacterial or antifungal drug must be prescribed. If favorable results do not happen quickly, the treatment with Hydrocortisone Acetate Suppositories should be stopped unless the infection is brought under control. Fabric staining can occur while using these suppositories. Precaution is recommended. Hydrocortisone Acetate Suppositories should not be used for prolonged time or in large amounts in pregnant women and must be used only if clearly required, because the drug may affect the mother's fetus. It is not clear if hydrocortisone acetate may appear in breast milk, but precautions must be taken, because of possibility for serious adversing reaction in nursing baby. The breast-feeding woman must discuss with her doctor about risks and benefits of using Hydrocortisone Acetate suppositories. Side effects of this medication may include irritation, itching, burning, hypopigmentation, foliculitis, dryness, secondary infection, or allergic condact dermatitis. In overdose case, the person must contact emergency room or local poison control center immediately. Hydrocortisone Acetate Suppositories usual dose is 1 suppository inserted in the rectum in the morning and night for 2 weeks in people with nonspecific proctitis. In severe cases, 1 suppository 3 times a day; or 2 suppositories 2 times a day. In patients with factitial proctitis, the treatment may take from 6 to 8 weeks, depending on response. Hydrocortisone Acetate suppositories 25 mg should be stored below 85oF and should not be freezed. The drug must be kept away from heat, children, and pets. This medicine must be used only as prescribed by doctor.
