A geneticist is a specialist trained in therapeutic as well as diagnostic procedures for individuals with genetically linked diseases. A clinical geneticist is a physician which demonstrates competence in providing comprehensive management, diagnostic and counseling services for genetic types of disorders. In order to become a geneticist, you must complete two or four years of training.
