Foradil (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) is a treatment system used in managing asthma and works to prevent bronchospasm in children of 5 years of age and older as well as adults. Foradil Aerolizer is a long-term, twice a day maintanence treatment program in patients with diseases that include: emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The most common side effects that result from the use of Foradil are low and high blood pressure, chest pain, nervousness, dry mouth, nausea, fast/irregular heartbeat, fatigue, muscle cramps, headache, tiredness, as well as low blood potassium and difficulty sleeping. Foradil Aerolizer Inhaler was proven for effective treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, as well as EIB (exercised-induced bronchospasm). The Foradil inhaler is very unique and allows the patient to feel, hear, and see that you’ve taken your medication properly. To use this inhaler, you must first remove the Foradil capsule, and place it in the chamber and close the mouthpiece. You must remember to never place the capsule in the inhaler mouthpiece. After, press the buttons just one time to pierce the capsule, and release. You should hear a clicking sound which will confirm the piercing. To use the Foradil Inhaler: Exhale fully (but not into the mouthpiece) and tilt your head back a bit slightly and place the Aerolizer in your mouth while breathing quickly, deeply, and steadily. The capsule which is spinning should then create a whirring noise, which means that the Aerolizer is working properly. Loosen the capsule and inhale again only if you don’t hear the noise. This medication will pass through your throat as it is inhaled and will provide a sweet taste. Hold your breath for as long as you can and after exhale. To confirm that you have taken the Foradil medication properly, open the Aerolizer and make sure there is no capsule which is left inside. Discard the empty capsule once finished.
