Enablex (darifenacin) is a drug available by prescription that has been proven in treating overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms that include: strong and sudden urges to go to the bathroom, frequent trips to the bathroom (more than 8 times within 24 hours), and incontinence (sudden and unexpected leaking accidents). The most common side effects of Enablex include: constipation, dry mouth, abdominal pain, and indigestion. This medication works by aiming at receptors on the individual’s bladder that create involuntary types of muscle spasms. Enablex works to control your bladder muscle so that you can restore your urination control. This medicine is easy to take and is administered once daily. It works to decrease the frequency of urges allowing the individual to go to bathroom fewer times during the day. Enablex also helps you hold in more urine before you need to urinate and it begins to provide relief of symptoms in as little time as two weeks. This medication comes in 2 strengths: 7.5mg and 15mg) and you should discuss with your doctor regarding the dosage you should take. In addition to taking Enablex to control OAB, you can also help your bladder by avoiding foods like chocolate, coffee, citrus fruits, sugar, alcohol, and spicy foods. You should know that this drug in rare cases may cause blurred vision. You should avoid taking Enablex if you experience certain types of stomach problems, glaucoma, or troubles emptying your bladder. During clinical studies, Enablex has shown to be well tolerated. You should discuss with your doctor whether or not this medication is right for you.
