Doppler ultrasound scanning is a procedure indicated for use mostly to measure flow of blood through the carotoid artery or through the artery at the brain base to asses an individual’s risk of getting a stroke. The method displays different rates of flow of blood in different colors on a monitor. The procedure is painless, and may be done on the bedside and is not expensive.
