Cortisone (Cortone brand) is the systemic, corticosteroid drug. This drug is not available over the counter. It should be prescribed only by a doctor. Cortison uses are: anti-inflammatory acute gouty arthritis), bronchial asthma, inflamatory bowel disease, adrenocortical insufficiency (hormone replacement therapy), immunosuppression (rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, allergic states.
