Chorea is a disorder which involves involuntary spasms or movement. It is a neurological disorder categorized by brief and irregular contractions that are not repetitive or rhythmic but appearing to flow from one muscle to the next. Chorea is a feature of Huntington's disease which is a progressive movement disorder appearing in adults but can also appear in other conditions. Syndenham's chorea happens in only 20% of children as a fever. There is treatment for the disease but it depends on the type of chorea. Syndenham's chorea treatment involves antibiotics in treating the infection followed by drug therapy. Metabolic choreas are treated according to the causes of the symptoms.
