Buspar

Details

Buspar (buspirone HCl) is a medication available by prescription used in management of short-term anxiety disorders and anxiety symptoms. You should notify your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant in the near future if you are currently taking Buspar. Taking this medication with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) such as Parnate, Marplan, and Mutalane can pose dangers of high blood pressure therefore you should avoid MAOIs while taking Buspar. Common symptoms that patients experienced in clinical trial studies include: nausea, dizziness, gastric distress, and miosis. Buspar is available in 5 mg and 10 mg strength. Each individual is likely to experience different effects while taking this drug. For individuals with severe anxiety disorders, Buspar would not be so effective. This medication is unique because it does not cause side effects of sedation, that are common in drugs like Clonozepam, Lorazepam, and Diazepam. You should be aware that combining Buspar along with the drug Warfarin (Coumadin) may increase the risk of bleeding and the use of Desyrel together with Buspar can cause abnormal liver enzymes in your blood. Consult with your doctor if you have any concerns or questions regarding this medication and make sure to keep Buspar at room temperature away from children.
