Appendectomy |
Details
|
An Appendectomy is performed with an incision 2-3 inches in length is made through the layers and skin of the abdominal wall near the area of appendix. A surgeon looks at the appendix by entering the abdomen and examining the area to be sure no additional problems are found and then removes it. The appendix is freed from the abdomen to the colon. If there is a abscess that is present, the pus is drained and the abdominal incision is closed. [Reference: Dennis Lee, Jay W. Marks]
