Angiomas are accumulations of abnormal lymph vessels, or dense blood that are generally located below and in the person’s skin that causes purple or red discoloration. Angiomas are frequently appearing soon after birth or birth and can be referred to as birthmarks. Approx 1/3 of newborns have angiomas, which vary in appearance from individual to individual and usually result in only cosmetic problems. Many angiomas disappear by themselves. Angioma examples are lymphangiomas, spider angiomas, cavernous hemangiomas, strawberry marks, and port-wine stains.
