Alzheimers Disease is the most common form of dementia among older people. Parts of the brain that control memory, thought and language are the parts of the brain that are involved. Scientists are always learning about this disease on a constant basis however the causes of Alzheimer's Disease are still unknown and there is no cure.
There are about 4 million people suffering from this disease according to scientists and the disease usually begins after the age of 60. The risk of the disease goes up with age. It is much less common in younger people.
Statistics:
3% of men and women between the ages of 65 to 74 have Alzheimer's Disease. It is not a normal part of aging and the disease is named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer (who is a German doctor)
